Dear Members,
It is with great pleasure that I write this letter to you
and thank you for your support in electing me as your PAIMA
President 2006-2008.
As your new President and in a joint effort with the New
Board Members we have established some initiatives to
improve the Association. During our last two board meetings
five committees were setup to better serve you and your
fellow members. These are:
1.
By-Laws Committee
This committee was formed to study the
necessary changes to the By-Laws so that the Associate
members could be allowed to vote and study the
implementation of one class of membership. Any change to
the By-Laws would require a 2/3 approval by the General
Assembly of Active Members.
2. Payment
Protection Plan Committee
This
committee was formed to study an acceptable method of
providing payment protection to PAIMA members from those
companies defaulting their financial obligations and not
paying their bills.
3. Internet
Committee
This
committee was formed to enhance the presence of PAIMA on the
internet by incorporating appropriate web changes, email
notices, banners, etc. It was emphasized that the internet
and the PAIMA web site should be better utilized for
communication and information by members and others.
4.
Certification and Tonnage Report Committee
This
committee’s responsibilities are to continue to encourage
members to become certified and to recommend specific
decisive action to be taken on those members that refuse to
comply with this requirement.
Secondly, the committee will promote the
filling out of the tonnage report and look for means that
will insure more compliance by PAIMA members.
5. Convention
Committee
This committee was formed to help plan
the 2007 PAIMA Convention, to insure that all items of
importance be included and that a professional and well
organized convention take place.
All of these are projects that have already started to
develop and have made excellent progress, so if you would
like to volunteer or need information regarding any of these
committees please contact the PAIMA office and we will
gladly update you.
We would like to encourage you to increase tonnage
reciprocity with our members, to report this tonnage on a
regular basis and to promote more business among your fellow
members and colleagues. This is one of the ways that we will
be able to better the Association and for you to see the
direct benefit of membership.
Since we have a requirement that all PAIMA Members must be
certified by either ISO, RIM or FAIM, we will continue
offering and holding our RIM and Packer Seminars in Spanish
for the benefit of our Members. The next seminar is in May,
please check the email for dates and location.
As movers it is vital to provide high quality services to
our customers, avoid claims, improve our personal skills and
increase our income. This can only be done by continuous
training and the updating of our information, skills and
techniques. Please take advantage of this service that PAIMA
provides to you.
I would like to reiterate my strong interest in building a
bigger and better Association by promoting PAIMA and by
having more creditworthy and qualified companies join us.
If you know of any company that would be a good addition to
our group, please let me know or contact our PAIMA office,
and we will invite them to learn more about becoming a
member of PAIMA. The more reciprocity that we can share
with more quality members, the stronger our organization
will grow and the more business we will have. It is a
definite win-win situation for all.
Your Board of Directors is highly motivated and we are
always interested in your suggestions, especially those that
will allow us to improve upon our already high standards. As
your President, I encourage you to submit your thoughts.
This is your organization and together we are creating an
Association that we can be proud to belong to and to
participate in.
Again, thank you for your support.
Sincerely,
George O'Masta Jr.
President
